Laser Treatment for Thread Veins

We are very pleased to be able to offer our patients Laser treatment, one of only a few practices in the UK that have access to Laser technology.

Our Laser is a 1064nm Nd YAG powerful (40w) class 4 medical laser. The use of this Laser has transformed treatments for Warts & Verrucae and Fungal nail infections. It also allows us to effectively clear Thread veins/Spider veins (Telangectasia).

On the low level infrared settings the Laser can also offer effective treatments for a range of musculoskeletal problems such as Tendonitis, Plantar fasciitis, Arthritis, Capsulitis, and quicker healing times for skin wounds.

How does it work?

Beams of light energy are absorbed by the Vein causing its destruction by a process called Photothermolysis. Since the energy is only absorbed by the Thread vein it causes little damage to the adjacent skin.

How effective is the treatment?

The treatment will remove the majority of thread veins. Occasionally the procedure may need to be repeated.

What does the area look like after treatment?

Red marks appear directly after treatment that can appear even more unsightly than the original thread veins, however these will gradually fade over time (can take a few months).

How safe is the treatment, is it painful?

This treatment is completely safe and has no systemic side effects. Without topical anaesthesia the procedure will sting, therefore we will provide you with an anaesthetic cream that you apply one hour before the treatment begins and we also use a topical cold compress during the treatment. These measures will ensure that any discomfort is minimal.

How long does the procedure take?

A maximum of 30 minutes.

Is there a recovery period?

Patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately after treatment with no recovery period.

How many sessions are required?

The majority of Thread veins require only one session, however some will require further sessions.

How much does it cost?

£195 (including one follow appointment).

There is no need to tolerate unsightly leg and ankle Thread veins, advances in medical technology allow us to apply a new effective treatment method: the S30 PODYLAS Laser which treats Thread veins quickly, safely and without side effects. The difference is immediate!
